Cabinet & Staircase Refinishing
What sets Lock 5 Fine Finishes apart from other refinishing companies?
- Our commitment to providing the client with a comfortable contracting experience while improving the value of their space and their quality of life. We work hard to develop quality relationships with our clients, and they are often sad to see us go!
- We are refinishers, and we understand all too well that paints and stains don’t cover imperfections, they reveal them. Our extensive preparation process allows us to create the finishes manufacturers intended.
- Decades of field experience has taught us to use only the best products for durable and long-lasting coverage and color saturation. Benjamin Moore Aura is excellent for wall coverage, and Benjamin Moore Scuff-x is our go-to paint for walls, trim and doors. These products are washable, and they both resist scuffing, burnishing, and mildewing. We love Benjamin Moore Command for steel trim and doors, and Old Master’s is our favorite stain for a rich lasting glow.
- We provide a free in-depth color consultation and estimate. Feel free to click on calendly.com/lock5/walkthru to schedule a free consultation and estimate.
- We are fully insured with both workman’s compensation and liability insurance.
We have an in-depth process that goes far beyond just changing the color of your walls:
- During the initial phone interview, the walk-through is scheduled via our software, which sends the client an immediate email confirmation and a verification text the day of the appointment. In the event the client needs to change the appointed time, they are able to click on the link in the email which links back to Lock 5’s calendar and allows them to pick another time slot. Feel free to click on calendly.com/lock5/walkthru to schedule a free consultation and estimate.
- An in-depth color consultation is provided free-of-charge, upon request at the time of the walk-through. The spaces will be measured and photographed, and we will take in-depth notes regarding the client’s questions, comments, and concerns.
- Next, we provide a free estimate via email, generally within 24 hours of the walk through, unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as a project in need of product research. Estimates expire 60 days after emailed.
- Once a contract has been signed and a deposit placed, the client secures their position on the calendar. As our projects are oftentimes scheduled several months in advance, we will be in intermittent communication during the waiting process and are available 24/7.
- The client is contacted about a week in advance of the project to button up final details. This is a good time for clients to move anything out of the spaces in which we will be working for the safety of both us and their belongings. We are available to help move items if needed at the rate of $75/hour.
- The day of our arrival it’s all hands on deck! Bill will first map out a spot for on-site equipment, and then he and Jake will finish moving all the furniture/items of interest that the client thought wouldn’t be in the way. Once complete, it’s on to papering the floors, covering everything else with plastic, removing every single fixture (which we clean) and finally dropping all ceiling lights and fans (which we clean as well). If we are spraying, we will create a hermetically sealed spray booth which will remain intact during the painting process to avoid contamination.
- Before product application, we must do a thorough preparation of the space. We caulk every gap, spackle every dimple and hole, and sand every surface before each coat of primer, paint, or stain including the ceiling! It takes the right equipment and a lifetime of experience to be able to be able to spray a factory finish on a kitchen cabinet or scale a 20’ entryway, and we have both.
- All that preparation makes for a more a flawless and washable finish that glows. Every single surface gets at least 2 coats of paint or stain, as well primed if needed and we only use products that are durable enough to stand the test of time. We like to use Benjamin Moore Aura for walls, and Benjamin Moore Scuff-x for wood trim and doors. For steel trim and doors our preference is Benjamin Moore Command and for wood staining we love Old Master’s.
- Re-assembly gets underway as the painting within a space is wrapping up. After replacing all hardware and fixtures remove all garbage from the premises and vacuum. If applicable and the client is willing, we have the awesome ladies from A Plus Cleaning call and schedule a full cleaning to help eliminate our presence on the premises.
- Finally, we attempt to do a thorough punch-out before the last day on the site. A punch-out is when the client walks around with a roll of blue tape after the completion of a project, sticking a little piece next to every flaw that needs to be addressed on a return trip. Although we gladly come back for punch-out and touch-ups for up to 90 days after the completion of a project, we like to leave our work as pristine as possible from the get-go.
